TASS is running the CHANGES II project in areas of Sanaag Region

Tadamun Social Society “TASS” with collaboration of CARE International, is running a “CHANGES2” project in areas of the Sanaag region of Puntland.

The goal of the CHANGES II project is to eradicate all the practices, customs, and social norms that are harmful to vulnerable people, especially women and children.

Our project enhances the knowledge and skills of the community such as

• Empowering and enhancing the entrepreneurial skills of women

• Connecting women to create a community savings fund

• Development of children’s intelligence and knowledge

• Stopping violence and eradicating negative practices such as violence against women, FGM/c early and forced marriage and harmful practice of female circumcision.

• Mobilize religious leaders and produce a unified religious view on female circumcision

• collaborating with media sectors to publicize awareness on women’s empowerment including girl education

• Working with government departments including the ministries of justice, women, and health.  Courts, and the police units

• Helping, protecting, and counseling victims of GBV, and FGM. and CEFM

• Strengthening and encouraging the education of children, especially girls

• Establishment of student clubs and good guidance for children.

So this month of October 2023 TASS with the help of CARE held different meetings in all the areas where this project is implemented, the meetings were attended by the children who completed the meeting known as Boy Wise ” Wiil Haldoora ” and Girl Shine “Gabar iftiimeeysa”.

The meetings were of several types such as

• Sports: there was a competitive football match for the boys, with TASS providing all the equipment and uniforms for the score.

• Educational/debate meeting: especially the issues related to the problems of the society that sing about violence and how to reduce it was attended by both boys and girls.

• Art meeting: participated in  by both  girls and boys

• Adramas meeting: participated in by both girls and boys, some girls only, dressed in traditional Somali clothing.

The meeting was also attended by the community in its different parts and finally there was a conclusion meeting of the work was held in Badhan district with the participation of regional and district authorities such as the deputy mayor Badhan  Ms. HAWA Abdukadir, a representative from Women and Justice ministries, local councilors, religious leaders, youth, women’s organizations and parents of children during the dinner meeting different speeches on women empowerment and girl rights were presented.
