Commencement of Mosque and Health Centre Construction Works under the Project for the Construction of 200 Housing Units with Service Facilities in Kismayo Implementation activities under the project “Construction of 200 Housing Units with Health, Educational, and Basic Infrastructure Facilities for Flood-Affected Communities in Kismayo, Federal Republic of Somalia,” funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), are witnessing notable progress. On 15 March 2026, excavation and construction work commenced for the mosque and health Centre components, marking an important step that reflects the

accelerated pace of implementation and the project’s transition into advanced stages.
The commencement of these two components comes within an integrated plan aimed at completing the system of essential services. The mosque and health centre represent two vital elements in supporting community stability and improving the quality of life for beneficiary families, particularly those affected by floods who lost the basic conditions necessary for dignified living.
It is worth noting that the project was officially launched and its foundation stone laid on Monday, 24 November 2025, in the presence of representatives from King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, the donor of the project, alongside officials from the Government of Jubaland and the management of Tadamun Social Society, the implementing partner.
The works are being carried out under joint engineering and technical supervision by the relevant stakeholders, including government authorities, the engineering consultancy office, the donor, and the implementing partner. This is to ensure compliance with the approved technical standards and to achieve high quality throughout the various stages of implementation.
This project is one of the leading humanitarian initiatives aimed at supporting the recovery of disaster-affected communities by providing safe housing and integrated essential services. It contributes to improving living conditions and strengthening the community’s ability to achieve stability, recovery, and sustainable growth.
