Commencement of Water Tank Construction Works under the Project for the Construction of 200 Housing Units with Service Facilities in Kismayo Implementation activities are progressing steadily and consistently under the project titled “Construction of 200 Housing Units with Health, Educational, and Basic Infrastructure Facilities for Flood-Affected Communities in Kismayo, Federal Republic of Somalia,” funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center ( KSrelief ).


On 9 February 2026, excavation and construction works officially commenced for a 40-cubic-meter water tank, which is considered one of the essential and vital service facilities within the project.
This progress comes as part of the ongoing implementation of the project components in accordance with the approved plan. It reflects the commitment to providing an integrated residential environment that includes basic services, particularly water services, given their crucial role in improving living standards and enhancing the health and environmental stability of the beneficiary families.
It is worth noting that the project was officially launched and the foundation stone was laid on Monday, 24 November 2025, with the participation of representatives from the donor, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, alongside officials from the Government of Jubaland and the management of Tadamun Social Society, the implementing partner of the project.
The works are being carried out under comprehensive engineering and technical supervision by the relevant stakeholders, including government authorities, the engineering consultancy office, the donor, and the implementing partner. This is to ensure compliance with technical and engineering standards and to achieve the highest levels of quality throughout all stages of implementation.
This project is one of the humanitarian initiatives aimed at supporting the recovery of communities affected by floods by providing safe housing and essential services. It contributes to improving living conditions and strengthening the resilience of local communities in facing challenges and natural disasters.
