TASS’s Environmental Protection Campaign

The Environmental Protection and Climate Change Mitigation Department of Tadaamun Social Society (TASS) has launched a collaborative environmental awareness campaign in collaboration with local communities and schools in Gardo and Bosaso districts in October 2024. This initiative aims to plant 2,000 trees to promote a collective understanding of environmental values and foster collaborative conservation efforts.

In Gardo District, 500 drought-resistant trees, specifically conocarpus plant ( Dhamas) and Neem tree (Talal) species, have been planted in school grounds and nearby villages. These species were chosen for their resilience to local climatic conditions.

In Bosaso District, 1,500 trees are planted in schools and surrounding areas, particularly in regions inhabited by displaced populations facing extreme summer temperatures. This effort not only aims to enhance environmental awareness but also seeks to educate the community on the importance of nature preservation, promoting a sustainable green environment.

The campaign also highlights the numerous advantages trees provide, such as improving air quality and fostering a cleaner environment. It emphasizes the significance of environmental protection and encourages a culture of stewardship among the public.

TASS is dedicated to raising awareness about environmental issues, advocating that everyone has a role in conserving and protecting our natural surroundings. The campaign envisions a future where a tree is planted for every home, summarized by the inspiring motto: “Plant a tree, plant a hope.”
