Final communiqué by Tadamun School Leaders’ Forum

TASS held a well-organized Education Forum for leaders of TASS managed schools in Garowe, the capital city of Puntland State of Somalia between 10th – 12th July, 2018. The aim of the forum was to review the current status of the community schools run by TASS and to issue communique regarding to the improvement of quality in education, better school leadership and school sustainability plans.

Various delegates from Puntland Education authority particularly the deputy minister of education Dr. Mohamed Ali Farah who opened the forum and other ministry dignitaries, TASS senior management team and school headmasters and headmistresses.

During the forum there have been  training on a) quality in education b) Schools leadership theories and practices c) School improvement plans development techniques for school leaders by education experts and followed by remarkable discussions over 25 years TASS schools’ accomplishments and gaps to pay the way for the future improvement plans concentrating on in the quality of education including technology adoption, learning teaching techniques, curriculum implementation, school management and teachers, student performance and suitability of schools’ environment.

It was noted that TASS schools had attained appreciable achievements in terms of leading private education institution, production of well -educated and disciplined graduates so the Forum highlighted that the schools run by TASS deserve for continuous improvement by accelerating the following five Suggestions and Recommendations in this coming academic year of 2018 – 2019 as short term plans: –

  1. Setting up harmonized criteria for Supervision in quality teaching for improvement purpose
  2. Developing a strategic plan for TASS run community schools
  3. Improve an inclusive learning environment; such buildings, furniture, teaching aids, hygiene and sanitation and so on.
  4. Strengthening the relationship between the Ministry of Education and higher education, PEN, parents, wider communities and other stakeholders.
  5. Promote skills of the teachers and revolutionizing of teaching methodologies.

Eventually: Tadamun social society and its schools’ management team expressed their gratitude for all who contributed to the construction & rehabilitation of TASS community schools and they also rendered special thanks Puntland MOE for its permanent guidance, school children parents who provide running costs of the schools and other stakeholders who directly or indirectly support TASS education program.
